The DR100 module for repeaters and gateways in the Smart Grid and networks is based on the DSS9001 and the DSS7700 Integrated Circuits. It provides a very low cost solution for the access distribution network over any type of communication media, be it coax, twisted-pair, coax or other.

The DR100 is the communications part of what would be a complete modem, ready to be used. The two other parts necessary, and also available as a part of the reference design package, are:

• PS3 – Power supply unit
  
  
• BP200 – Backplane to communicate the PS3 and the DR200
